Positive Response to Huffington Post Article

The opinion article that Laurie Alice Eakes mentioned in the September 14 Good News Report was published on September 17 by the Huffington Post. It was titled “Yes, Blind People Read Books. We Write Them, Too.” She’s “kind of amazed at the positive response,” as she was pretty forthright about some of her experiences with publishing personnel and authors alike. She also received several personal stories about how loved ones with disabilities have been treated or how the person themself related to the article and is glad to learn they are not alone.

Here are some of the comments:

Debra Dupree Williams:

“Bravo! Spot on. Everyone needs to read this.”

Mark D. Miller:

“Needed to be written and needs to be read.”

Becky Gansky:

“Our country has a long way to go in bringing equality to those with “disabilities.” That word alone I [is] politically incorrect!!! My daughter and granddaughters are “disabled” but more able and capable than most. Wake up America!!!”
