Having trouble determining if your story is a mystery, a thriller, or suspense? You’re not alone. These three categories of crime fiction share so many qualities, it can be confusing. Even if you don’t have a story idea yet, you may leave this workshop with one, or ten! Join us April 13, 10am CST, for this one hour Zoom where we discuss the differences and where your story may fit on the bookshelf. Bring your blurb or a paragraph of your story idea for us to work with. We’ll even go through some keywords for each.

Tobi Doyle is a long-time member and past president of Kiss of Death, a plotter, and a hybrid author with more than a dozen books published. She worked on the RWA Pen to Paper curriculum and was awarded the RWA Pro Mentor of the Year, as well as a service award. She’s bringing all that she learned about writing craft, and partnered with Sheila Redling, a best-selling author, to create workshops that give you something you can use and apply immediately.
Sheila Redling, a pantser, is the author of nine novels of pure mayhem, including the bestselling thrillers FLOWERTOWN and the Dani Britton series. She was the recipient of the 2022 WVLA literary merit award and has presented at Bouchercon, Left Coast Crime, and more. A graduate of Georgetown University, a former morning radio host, and a language geek, Sheila currently lives in Huntington WV.
